Public space
Francisc von Neuman Stadium's square
Project description
For Francisc von Neuman Stadium’s square, the aim was to create a space for community. The square will be a polarizing center of urban life, in terms of activities and image of public space. Now, the square is delimited by a fence. The pedestral’s fence is kept, removing only the portions where the pedestrian access in square is created. In order to create a unique identity for square, delimitation will be realized with metal panels, which present the important moments in the history for the UTA Club (significant successes, representative players). These panels symbolically delimit the square. This public space will strengthen the identity of the place. The events held in this space will be spontaneous, people mingle, move or spend time. It will be a space that cannot be subject to social norms, that does not have a script, it will offer surprises and unexpected pleasures: children playing, young people walking, elderly people talking, lonely and melancholic people disconnecting from everyday pressures, not being able to make a clear distinction between the observers and the observed. The square will become the "soul" of the neighborhood, the place where its urban character is shaped.
